10 Minutes with Katie Gill

We are continuing our series of "10 Minutes with.." to get to know our team, this week we're talking to Katie Gill:

Where are you from?

Metairie, Louisiana

Where did you go to school?

 University of New Orleans

How long have you been at Heckenkemper?

 Since November 2016.

What is your favorite movie?

 Anything scary.

Where can you most likely be found on the weekends?

The dog park with my puppy, Millie or riding bikes with my husband.

Where is your favorite place you have ever travelled? Why?

My favorite place I have ever traveled to is Cork, Ireland. I went there on my honeymoon back in 2014. We visited the Blarney Castle and kissed the stone. The only other person to do this in my family was my great grandmother on my mother’s side. I was only a baby when she died, so I never got to meet her. When I went to the castle, I felt a special connection to her as I walked the same path she did. And I was able to share it with my husband, which made it all the more special.

If you could have dinner with any famous person, past or present, who would it be and why?

It would have to be Carol Burnette. She is a pioneer in her industry and an image of positivity. Learning how to laugh and work at the same time is probably one of the most valuable things you can do in life.

What is your favorite T.V. show?

My favorite would have to be between Feud:  Joan vs. Bette, Taboo and Fargo. But, that’s only until American Horror Story comes back on.

What is your most embarrassing moment?

I once went to a Bubba Gump Shrimp during a Forest Gump trivia night. I knew all of the answers and proceeded to yell them out at the person hosting the event. He wouldn’t turn around to give me a prize when I answered correctly, so I yelled even louder. It turns out, it was a trivia night for a private party and he was doing his best to ignore me.

What food can you not resist?

 Blue cheese.

What do you do to unwind?

I scroll through Netflix and watch movie trailers.

What is your favorite article of clothing?

It’s got to be my favorite dress; the pattern is covered in chicks hatching out of eggs. I have worn the dress to many occasions, and surprisingly, it’s always appropriate.

What is your biggest pet peeve?

Dirty microwaves. And I won’t clean them either because I think they are disgusting to even look at. Or – When people cut me in line. I have inspired many to scoot in front of me for whatever reason. I guess it’s a talent.

Describe yourself in 3 words.

 Quirky, eclectic and kind.

Best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?

Let whatever you do today be enough. – Facebook post from random friend
