Wow, so pumped I was able to check this off my bucket list! I was so very honored to speak to the communication students over at The University of Tulsa. Thank you to Erin Lynch for setting this up and inviting me over to campus to speak.
The University of Tulsa is such a landmark and cornerstone of our Tulsa community, personally I love driving over by the campus. Up until now, I had only attended games and taken my kiddo's to summer camp there and to finally be driving over just for me was genuinely thrilling! Now, as I gave myself a pep talk of "keep it cool Steph" I ran through my talking points in my head on the short drive over from my office.
I shared mainly about how social media is impacting marketing and the relationship of millennial behavior and overall consumer influence on social media and what that means for them as students moving into a varied assortment of communications/marketing fields. Consumer privacy was a hot topic of interest for this group and they had thoughtful questions about online privacy, consumer behavior tracking and I was impressed with this line of critical thinking for undergraduate students - soon to be be the newest generation of marketers moving into the workforce. Of course I never miss an opportunity to plug professional development so I loved sharing about the local Tulsa chapters of professional groups around town including AMA, PRSA, AD & AWC to name just a few.
Thank you again to Erin Lynch and TU, it was genuinely a privilege to come over and speak to your students!
